COVID-19 restrictions lifted! UTheater makes first public performance of the year, Hsinchu Summer Art Cultural Festival draws in 10,000 visitors

The first performances of the 2020 Summer Art Cultural Festival, an annual event many Hsinchu people look forward to, was given on July 11.It was the stunning “Beyond Time” by UTheater. 3.14-hectare Dananya Park was packed with people for the event, giving the perfect start to this year’s festival.
 
Mayor Lin Chih-Chien said that he began promoting the Summer Art Cultural Festival after taking up office in 2015. In 2020, an unprecedented challenge has been faced, however, with the efforts of everyone, the Festival is going ahead as planned and was kicked off by Utheater’s first large scale outdoor performance this year. Every Saturday evening until the end of August there will performances by different groups. Citizens are invited to attend enthusiastically.
 
Cultural Affairs Bureau Director Hung Jing-Hui said that UTheater has always received a warm welcome when performing in Hsinchu, so this year they were again invited. To provide citizens with diverse arts events, the city government has added three performances and has planned seven splendid shows, inviting six groups. As well as Utheater, Formosa Circus Art, Ming Hwa Yuan Arts & Cultural Group, Paper Windmill Theatre, Taiwan Acrobatic Troupe and Diabolo Dance Theatre will perform at different venues in the North District, East District and Xiangshan District from July 1 to August 27.
 
The Cultural Affairs Bureau said that all performances in the Summer Art Cultural Festival are free. The curtain goes up at 7pm. People of all ages from all over Taiwan are welcome to attend the shows.
