Borrowing Ideas from San Francisco Fisherman's Wharf; Hsinchu City Mayor Lin Chih-chien: Improve Tourism, Recreation, and Fishery

Hsinchu City Mayor Lin Chih-chien led his team to visit Fisherman's Wharf, San Francisco (SFFW) on April 23. Mayor Lin pointed out San Francisco and Hsinchu City are both coastal cities that dedicates in developing fishery and tourism. He emphasizes that he has been upgrading Hsinchu City's Fisherman's Wharf (HCCFW) in the recent 3 years, and with the experience gained from this visit, he will upgrade HCCFW to a city spotlight that possesses tourism, fishery, and recreation purposes.
 
The visit contains 15 itineraries within 5 days. The itineraries include visiting Marin County Civic Center, Marin County Councilor Damon Connolly, and seeking advises from San Francisco Bay Area Planning & Urban Research Association (SPUR). Mayor Lin and Councilor Connolly exchanged experience and plans about green vehicle and public transit, and Mayor Lin sincerely invites Councilor Connolly to visit Hsinchu City for further opinion exchange.
 
While visiting SFFW, Mayor Lin and his team inspected yacht bay, feature shops, and scenic views. Mayor Lin stated that SFFW showed him and his team excellent ideas to upgrade HCCFW.
 
Director of Hsinchu City Government Department of Economic Development Wu Jiatian stated Mayor Lin has spent $970 million dollars on upgrading HCCFW since he was elected. The International Kite Field completed last year attracted 100,000 visits in 2 days; recent completion of Fish Scale Stairs gathers the 3 most attractive elements for children - slide, sand, and water and becomes a new popular family place.
