2019 Taiwan Modern Tourism Forum held by Tourism Bureau, MOTC was the third year for the forum. It recognized Hsinchu City’s cultural deposits and moved here for the first time. The forum was held at Wind Livehouse on May 29-30. Industrial, official, and academic fields met together to discuss the tourist business opportunities of small towns. Yeh Chu-lan, president of Taiwan Visitors Association praised Mayor Lin Chih-chien for changing Hsinchu City. Mayor Lin Chih-chien stated tourists to Hsinchu City had reached more than 23 million since 2016, and the person/time of foreign tourists grew by 20%.
Tourism Bureau promoted the project “2019 Taiwan Small Town Ramble” this year and selected 40 typical small towns for promoting domestic tourism. The historical urban area in Hsinchu was one of selected towns. With the theme of small town ramble, the annual Taiwan Modern Tourism Forum held by Tourism Bureau moved to Hsinchu City this year.
Mayor Lin Chih-chien stated he worked hard to promote the city brand after assuming office. He promoted Hsinchu City through historic spots and requested professional units to calculate the person/time of tourists visiting Hsinchu City. More than 23 million tourists visited Hsinchu City within three years since August, 2016, and the person/time of foreign tourists grew by 20%. The venue, Wind Livehouse, was in Hsinchu Park which has been older than one hundred years. After improvement, citizens and tourists may appreciate the park again, and it attracted many young people to perform here.

Its governing domain covered Taoyuan, Hsinchu, and Miaoli. Therefore, he emphasized urban aesthetics and activated many buildings and historic spots with his team. Artist masterpieces could be found at many corners around Hsinchu City, and they were amazing for tourists. Their impression on Hsinchu City has been totally different form their past imagination.
