Hsinchu City Government Department of Civil Affairs stated on August 22 that "2018 Joint Festival of Indigenous People" will debut on August 25 (Sat.), 10:00 am at Beida Park. Deputy Mayor Shen Hui-hong stated the annual Joint Festival of Indigenous People is a meaningful event about cultural inheritance of Indigenous people. Hsinchu City Government (HCCG) sincerely invites all citizens to join the festival and get to know indigenous culture and spirit through songs, dances, and their traditional ceremonies.
Deputy Mayor Shen stated there are over 4 thousand indigenous people covering 14 different clans registered their household registrations in Hsinchu City, and more actually live here. However, indigenous people resided in Hsinchu City are not able to regularly return to their hometown to join festivals; thus, HCCG conducts a joint festival that allows them to bring their culture and memory to Hsinchu City and also hopes to create a respectful environment between different clans.
HCCG also plans to set up an Indigenous People Cultural Industry Park in Naluwan settlement, adding another tourism spot on 17-km Coastline in the future.
The festival on 25th contains traditional music and dances from each clan and exciting fun contest! There is also featured cuisines and singing competition during noon, showing the amazing singing talent of indigenous people. Plenty of feature activities await; all citizens are welcome to join the festival!
