Hsinchu City Government is promoting international education and holds the Cupertino student exchange from Apr. 15 to Apr. 22. Hsinchu Guang Hua Junior High School held a greeting party in the general building on Apr. 16.
Liu Junwei, a Hsiang Shan Senior High School student, stated that she started to plan a tourism schedule after she realized that her family was going to become the homestay for Sanika (one of the exchange student). Liu Junwei plans to take Sanika to Nanliao, Green Green Grassland, Hsinchu Green Trail, Cih Lake, Xingren garden night market, and Dajia Matsu Pilgrimage Procession. Liu Junwei hopes to give Sanika an enriched cultural trip.
Zou Jiayun, a Nan Hua Junior High School student, stated that language and jet lag were the problems when she contacted Ashlyn through instant messenger. She pointed out that the school helps her to prepare daily supplies for Ashlyn. Furthermore, Nan Hua Junior High School Director of Academic Affairs Zhan Yushuang and Nan Hua students especially designed a special course for Ashlyn.
"There are so many high-rises and convenience stores here," Jay (one of the exchange student) said. Jay met Zheng family that is going to take care of him in the following days after he arrived Hsinchu City on Apr. 15. Since Jay is able to use Mandarin to communicate with Zheng Zhuyong, he realized that there are a lot of delicacies and fun places in Hsinchu City. Zheng Zhuyong also stated that he will take Jay to explore Hsinchu City for the next 8 days.
Hsinchu City Mayor Lin Chih-chien pointed out that in order for local students to have different cultural experience and international outlook, Hsinchu City Government holds student exchange activities with Cupertino, Okayama, and other schools from Southeast Asia annually.
Deputy Director of Hsinchu City Government Department of Education Huang Yumei pointed out that the exchange students from Cupertino arrived Taiwan on Apr. 15. After the greeting party on Apr. 16, the school members took them to visit historical sites in Hsinchu City including Hsinchu City Hall, Chenghuang Temple, and Changhe Temple. The future schedule includes "making keychains and badges," "experiencing glass art and archery," and "visiting English village and experiencing puppetry" in Guang Hua Junior School, Fuli Junior High School, and Hulin Junior High School respectively. Additionally, all homestays have planned a tourism schedule for their exchange students and will hold a farewell party in the evening of Apr. 20. The student exchange program will end on Apr. 22; Deputy Director Huang hopes the student exchange activity will give both Hsinchu students and exchange students an unforgettable memory.
