President Tsai Ing-wen visited Hsinchu City in the afternoon of Dec. 25. President Tsai, Hsinchu City Mayor Lin Chih-chien, and many village chiefs went to Changhe Temple for praying. Mayor Lin has become the Hsinchu City Mayor for three years; he appreciated President Tsai and Hsinchu City citizens for their supports. Mayor Lin's effort in past 3 years was approved by President Tsai. She stated that the Central Government will support Hsinchu City on the urban foresight development including Hsinchu Station Project, Light Rail Transit, and baseball field construction.
Mayor Lin pointed out that Hsinchu City citizens always asked him "where does the money come from for so many constructions" whenever they saw the development in Hsinchu City. Mayor Lin stated that the Central Government already approved over $9 billion NT dollar subsidy for Hsinchu City's construction in past 3 years; he specially appreciated President Tsai and Legislator Ker Chien-ming for their supports.

Mayor Lin invites the public who is interested in transforming Hsinchu City to join the "Helping Hsinchu Group." The group now contains top architects and top skilled people from Hsinchu Science Park, international standard companies, ITRI (Industrial Technology Research Institute), and 5 local universities. Mayor Lin pointed out that the City Government and the "Helping Hsinchu Group" will keep the work up and make Hsinchu City to go one step further in 2018.

President Tsai stated that she had heard about the urban development plan from Mayor Lin. The plan is from citizens' point of view which impressed her very much. The Central Government will support the foresight project in Hsinchu City. Next year is the year of "LTC (Long-term Care) 2.0;" the Central Government is going to prepare and invest $30 to $40 billion NT dollar in the LTC 2.0 plan. The plan will establish a long-term care center in every community so that people do not have to worry about the elders at home while working. President Tsai hopes that Hsinchu City can become the model for LTC cities after completing the LTC system.
