Deputy Division Chief Takatsuka Toshimitsu from Okayama City, Hsinchu City’s sister city, visited the city government today (25). Acting Mayor Chiu Chen-Yuan warmly welcomed Deputy Division Chief Takatsuka Toshimitsu to Hsinchu City for his two-week study tour. During the study tour, Deputy Division Chief Takatsuka will observe and study the policies related to Hsinchu City’s industries, the Hsinchu Science Park, the smart city, and foreign workers. He will also engage in exchanges with the city government’s Department of Economic Development, Department of General Affairs, Department of Labor and Youth Affairs, and the Hsinchu Science Park Bureau. Acting Mayor Chiu hopes that Deputy Division Chief Takatsuka will experience the local culture and delicacies of Hsinchu City during his study tour. He also wishes the delegation from our sister city in Japan a smooth and safe journey during their study tour in Hsinchu.
Acting Mayor Chiu stated that Hsinchu City and Okayama City established a sister-city relationship in 2003, marking 21 years of valuable connection. Over the years, the two cities have had close exchanges in education, arts, industries, and tourism. In September last year, a delegation from Hsinchu City visited Okayama and experienced the city’s warm hospitality. Acting Mayor Chiu expressed hope for a long-lasting friendship and continued collaboration between the two cities, working together to highlight the unique characteristics of the two cities. Hsinchu City is also a city with a history of three hundred years. Many buildings are remaining from the Japanese colonial period, including the city government building and many Japanese-style buildings in the city. Acting Mayor Chiu believes that Deputy Division Chief Takatsuka will feel a sense of familiarity during his stay in Hsinchu City. He hopes that the staff of Okayama City will publicize the visit and continue to give support and encouragement to Hsinchu City when they return to Japan after the visit.
