The Incorporated Foundation, Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy, has been organizing the “TCSA Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Award” for 17 consecutive years to encourage domestic industries to fulfill their Corporate Social Responsibility and move towards sustainable development. The Hsinchu City Government, with its five core values and ten policy strategies, closely aligns with the United Nations’ sustainable development goals and has outstanding performance. This year (113), the Hsinchu City Government submitted for the first time the “Innovation Growth Leadership Award” and the “Social Inclusion Leadership Award” to participate in the competition and received recognition in both award categories. On behalf of Acting Mayor Chiu Chen-Yuan, Executive Secretary of the Hsinchu Sustainability Department and Climate Change Response Promotion Office, Lin Zheng-Guang, presented the awards at the 7th GCSA & TCSA Joint Award Ceremony today.
Acting Mayor Chiu said that Hsinchu City is famous for its technology industry, and there are international technology factories under its jurisdiction, which attracts a lot of employment flows of people. In order to enhance the city’s disaster prevention safety, and at the same time, concern about the physical and mental impacts of high pressure and high working hours on the workers, the city government team, through the use of high-tech resources and multilateral cooperation, has constructed a tough firewall for safety and launched a variety of campaigns to protect the health of all the people, showcasing the smart and local features of this small city. The submissions, “Resilient Firefighting, Sustainable Protection” and “Zero-Distance Sports, Forward to Sustainability,” won the “Innovation Growth Leadership Award” and the “Social Inclusion Leadership Award.” This not only highlights the city government’s outstanding governance achievements but also provides greater motivation to continue striving for excellence, building a livable, sustainable, and low-carbon city in the future.
