Guanpu Elementary School is about to welcome its freshmen students in the coming academic year. The first phase of the construction project will be launched successfully at the end of August, adding 12 lower grade classrooms, libraries, and teacher offices. The low-density and open community-like buildings break the stereotype of “can-like buildings” in the campus, trying to build a "forest campus in the city" based on children's needs. Mayor Lin Chih-Chien inspected the construction and called the implementation unit’s attention to the compliance of standards. He requested that all facilities must be completed as soon as possible. Guanpu Elementary School will become the first newly built school after his assumption of office, providing a learning environment for children to jump out of the framework. Moreover, Guanpu Elementary School will be a model of the “New Campus Movement”.
Guanpu Elementary School is at a great location. It is near Hsinchu Science Park and Guanpu living community. The innovative architecture can lead children to learn creatively and has become a model of campus architecture. With its light green exterior walls and undulating terrain, Guanpu Elementary School is known as the “forest campus in the city”. Its architectural design won the 2018 “Golden Quality Award of Best Planning and Design” and 2019 “Golden Quality Award of Best Construction” in FIABCI-Taiwan Real Estate Excellence Award. The famous atrium windows, bamboo forests, ventilated towers and sloping roofs create the most unique classrooms for children.
The Department for Education said that Hsinchu City Government has invested more than NT$ 3.7 billion on promoting the "New Campus Movement". Over the past four years, 27 old buildings in 21 schools are rehabilitated and campus facilities are improved. In addition, Hsinchu City Government has built Guanpu Elementary and Waldorf Experimental School to create an aesthetic environment. We look forward to the second phase of the "Guanpu Elementary School" project, hoping it will continue to implement the architectural design concept and become a model of the "New Campus Movement".
