Hsinchu City Government (HCCG) is hosting "Perspective of Hsinchu (#新竹視角)" photography and short film requisition event with the prize pool of $500,000 NTD and invites the public to catch the image of "the dynamic city." The event attracted over 200 people to apply for the "Snapshot" group, and the submission deadline for both "Short Film" and "Photography" groups will be August 22. Hsinchu City Mayor Lin Chih-chien hopes to attract shutterbugs to record the beauty of Hsinchu City.
All submissions of "Perspective of Hsinchu" should be taken in Hsinchu City and match the theme of "The Dynamic City." The event has three groups – "Short Film," "Photography," and "Snapshot." 222 people had submitted their "snapshots" to "Hsinchu New (新竹市新鮮事)" Facebook fan page. The submitted pictures included multiple Hsinchu City's signature structures such as Hsinchu Station, East Gate, and Cheng Huang Temple.
Director of HCCG Department of General Affairs Susana Pai stated that submission for "Snapshot" group is ended. She encouraged the public to visit "Hsinchu New" Facebook fan page and press like for the favorite pictures. Posters of the 10 most liked submissions will receive $2,500 NTD prize. Furthermore, the first prizes for "Short Film" and "Photography" groups are $150,000 NTD and $50,000 NTD respectively.
Mayor Lin welcomed everyone to follow his Instagram (search "林志堅"). He stated that whenever he has spare times, he would record his daily life with cellphone and post on his Instagram. For example, the public can see the pictures of his kids' sleeping faces, Hsinchu City Cheng Huang Festival, and a tie his kids made for him as a Father's Day's gift on his Instagram. He hoped the public will record the changes of the city through this event.
HCCG especially invited Tien Ding-feng, Shen Ke-shang, Shen Chao-liang, Huang Yu-shan, Lungnan Isak Fangas, Chen Chin-pao, and Hsieh Chun-te, 7 moguls in national directing and photography area as the judges for the event. Tien Ding-Feng was a judge of Golden Melody Awards and Golden Bell Awards; Shen Ke-Shang, Shen Chao-Liang, Huang Yu-Shan, and Lungnan Isak Fangas were the winners of Golden Horse Awards, Golden Tripod Awards, Taipei Film Festival, and Times Advertising Awards, respectively.
