Hsinchu City Government is dedicated to establish the 4 km Hsinchu forest. The construction of the Cultural Greenways was completed on Dec. 28. The construction included establishing the waterfall fountain and the accessible sidewalk. Hsinchu City Mayor Lin Chih-chien stated that the Cultural Greenways gathered water and greens; it connected with Dongda Feixing Park, Hsinchu Green Park, and Longenzun to form the Hsinchu forest.

The activation ceremony was started by the performance of Hsinchu Municipal Wind Orchestra yesterday morning (28). Mayor Lin pointed out that Hsinchu Performing Arts Center is an important place for art and cultural exchange in Hsinchu City. Therefore, Hsinchu City Government decided to establish accessible cultural greenways due to poor surrounding traffic flow. Now, it becomes a good place for dating and taking a walk.

The chief of Shuitian Village Xu Mingxia stated that most of people in the community were elders and young families, so they yearned a park to take a walk or do exercise. The construction this time received a lot of positive feedbacks from the neighborhoods.

Hsinchu City Cultural Affairs Bureau (HCCAB) stated that the construction of the cultural greenways removed the flower terraces at the entrance plaza and sidewalk of Hsinchu Performing Arts Center then established a 3 meter wide accessible sidewalk. The public is able to follow the sidewalk to City Moat Waterfront Park and Hsinchu Green Park.

HCCAB pointed out that the construction transformed the old lotus pond into a waterfall fountain. The plaza also set up ten 15-centimeter-high chairs for elders. Additionally, the noise caused by vehicles on the road and in the parking lot would be blocked by the plantings. Mayor Lin stated that the City Government will regularly hold the musical feast at the plaza.
