Hsinchu City "Children Sports Games" is going to debut on Dec. 23. Hsinchu City Mayor Lin Chih-chien and the little athletes lit up the torch (light bulb) together yesterday to symbolize the beginning of the sports games on Saturday. Mayor Lin stated that sports games could help children to make exercise a habit and improve parent-child relationship. He welcomed the public to join the event and cheer up for the small athletes.
Mayor Lin shared his own experience during the opening ceremony that playing with his children at home is the most stress relieving activity for him. His children had a lot of fun with the Rody horse and push bike at home, and their laughter always relief him and his wife from tiredness of work. Mayor Lin stated that the children sports games this year will be different from the previous years. He invited parents to take a day off from the busy life and accompany their children to enjoy the weekend.
Director of Hsinchu City Government Department of Education (HCED) Li Fangling stated the Hsinchu City Children Sports Games contains creative sports games and challenges including push bike time trial, 15 creative physical challenges, and activities where young children from 0 to 2 years old will be able to play freely. For parents who didn't apply for the games can still bring their children to enjoy some of the challenges and also have the chance of winning sport socks and practical stationeries; giving the small athletes a memorable weekend.
HCED especially thanks the Liujia Village, Giant, and EleClean for sponsoring the nursery room, free push bikes, and 1300 hand sanitizer sprays; wishing a pleasant experience to all families before the Christmas Eve.
The 2017 Hsinchu City Children Sports Games is a diverse sports event. The morning session is for group competitions, and the afternoon session is for individual competitions. "Attack on Push Bike" competition in the morning session has 50 extra spaces opened for application; people who are interested in joining the competition please apply at the service counter in the event scene at 9:00, Saturday (23).
