2017 Camellia Season "The Romance in Wind City, Sealing Fate with Camellia" debuted on Dec. 16. Hsinchu City Camellia Production and Marketing Group (HCCPMG) used advanced cultivation technology to develop over 1500 varieties. Hsinchu City Mayor Lin Chih-chien stated "Taiwan has the most beautiful camellia in the world; and Hsinchu City has the most beautiful camellia in Taiwan." He will continually develop Xiangshan local industries and promote Xiangshan chimneyless sightseeing.
Mayor Lin stated that camellia symbolizes grandeur and elegance; even internationally renowned brand Chanel uses camellia as its brand logo. HCCPMG has been promoting the beauty of camellia and hosting Camellia Season annually. Over 1500 camellia varieties are cultivated under HCCPMG's effort. Camellia is the pride of Hsinchu City and also the spotlight of Xiangshan District.
Mayor Lin pointed out that Camellia Season debuted on Dec. 16, 2017 and will end on Feb. 28, 2018. He mentioned that he had been developing Green Green Grass Land in Xiangshan District since he was elected. It now has children's favorite grinded-stone slides and ecological pool; and its third reconsolidated area with the second ecological pool is under construction and will be planted with deciduous cypresses.
Board Director of Hsinchu City Farmer's Association Chen Quangui emphasized that Hsinchu City cultivates various varieties of high quality camellias using advanced R&D technology. Members of HCCPMG developed bonsai techniques so that the public is able to admire the beauty of camellia from different aspects during non-blooming seasons.
Director of Hsinchu City Department of Economic Development Wu jiatian stated Hsinchu City has been cultivating camellia for over 60 years with 15 hectares of plantation area. Camellia industry in Xiangshan District has also been developed over 30 years and hosting Camellia Season for over 10 years; the flower growers acquire the most advanced exclusive techniques and technologies in Taiwan. There are 4 new eye-catching camellia breeds – "Arabic Dance Skirt," "Purple Emperor," "Welcome Pile," and "Tempura," available in the Camellia Season this year.
"The Romance in Wind City, Sealing Fate with Camellia" contains camellia with the highest quality, the most varieties, and the most technical bonsais.
