2017 Joint Exhibition of Comprehensive Community Achievements Debuted on November 18 and 19; Hsinchu City Mayor Lin Chih-chien: the "Most Gelivable Community" Establishes the "Most Blessed-City"

Hsinchu City "2017 Joint Exhibition of Comprehensive Community Development Achievements" was held at the culture park on Nov. 18 and Nov. 19. The exhibitors included community development associations, youth studios, art and literature groups, community universities, and district offices. The exhibition displayed the local culture and context through community development. Hsinchu City Mayor Lin Chih-chien stated that a "gelivable community" could establish the "most blessed-city."

Mayor Lin pointed out that the contents of comprehensive community development were diverse. The community could manage its feature through the participation of local residents and displayed the city's history through community development. It also inherited the history to next generation through the local stories from elders.

Mayor Lin stated that Hsinchu City Government Agencies such as Department of Urban Development, Department of Economic Development, Department of Education, Department of Social Affairs, and Cultural Affairs Bureau had gathered the resources to host the exhibition. The exhibition invited 24 community development associations, 3 youth studios, 2 art and literature groups, 3 community universities, and 2 district offices to display the features of the communities. The booths of the exhibition had art and literature, delicacies, handmade experience, and cultural goods of mainland veteran villages.

Cultural Affairs Bureau stated that in order to respond to Ministry of Culture's "National Cultural Memory and Digital-Value-Added Plan," the "Community Screening Room" was initiated in the exhibition this year. The screening room displayed 15 documentary films and dramas created by the community and social groups. The documentary film "Open the Dongmen" described the interaction between the old stores and youth groups in Dongmen Market which showed the conflict and compromise between new and old groups, business activities from different generations, and the lifestyle in Dongmen Market.
