Hsinchu City Government has successfully obtained $382 million funds for the first phase of "Foresight Infrastructure – Road Quality Improvement Plan." The plan is to improve road pavement including sidewalk condition, and reorganize cables and signs.
Hsinchu City Mayor Lin Chih-chien states that Dongda Road is the major thoroughfare which connects Nanliao and West Coast Express Way. The project is targeting on improving the road and sidewalk conditions on Dongda Road and Xuanzang Road, as well as making the hanging cables underground and integrating signs onto a shared pole for 58 intersections in downtown area.
Director of Hsinchu City Department of Transportation Ni Maorong states the Department of Transportation will resolve the problem of traffic signal controllers occupying pedestrian path through reorganizing and reducing the amount and size of traffic signal controllers. Relevant constructions will be starting from 2018.
