Starting today (29) and ending April 9, Hsinchu City Cultural Affairs Bureau Mayyuan and Glass Galleries will now display Zhu Jun's (architect and artist) personal exhibition "Spontaneous and Free But Not Being Anything", displaying 35 artworks with rich contents; the opening ceremony was hosted by Deputy Mayor Shen Huihong in the morning (29) with many guests, including Taiwan Architecture Association Secretary, Qing Xi New Art and Culture Association Director, local architects, artists and City Councilors.
The Deputy Mayor stated that Mr.Zhu is the leading architect in Taiwan, and "Easy is the best application" greatly reflects his creations. When he was studying architecture in the National Cheng Kung University, he provided a blueprints solution for Tainan Catholic Church's problem of insufficient space and budget in building a student activities center, in addition, he also designed the "Dynamic Mechanical Hall" for Tsing Hua University.
During Mr. Zhu's 29 year stay in United States, he had participated in the design and planning for more than 80 projects, including personal houses, high floor residences, hospitals, factories, Universities, dorms, tall office buildings, urban planning, and new town designs. Moreover, during his 9 year period in Taiwan, he had won many blueprint competitions, and was also responsible for many projects such as urban planning, the Science Park, commercial district developments, hospitals, wafer factories, public housing, and dorms for Universities.
Mr. Zhu stated that he often creates and innovates irrationally and aimlessly without thinking, allowing for more possibilities because his ideas are displayed sub-consciously. Mr. Zhu hopes that his sculptures can become the public artworks for everyone to experience.
Mr. Zhu had personal exhibitions in Taipei, Beijing, Vienna, and Bali, also co-exhibitions in Taipei Fine Arts Museum, Office of the President, and Singapore. Moreover, he has deep connections with Hsinchu, because apart from designing the "Dynamic Mechanical Hall" for Tsing Hua University, he is also good friends with Principal He Chenhong, Professor Peng Guanghui, and Socrates Coffee Owner Lin Qun.
The implication of the exhibition "Spontaneous and Free But Not Being Anything" is to allow interactions while letting the audience define Mr.Zhu's works.
