Following the silver award at the 2024 Milan Design Awards, the 2023 Hsinchu International Kite Festival has once again received international acclaim, this time winning the Muse Awards gold prize. Mayor Kao Hung-An stated that last year’s international kite festival in Hsinchu surpassed expectations, attracting over 100,000 participants for the first time and receiving great feedback. This award is not only an honor for the city government but also a source of pride for its citizens.
Mayor Kao expressed gratitude for the international recognition of the Hsinchu International Kite Festival, seeing it as the best encouragement for the city government team and a driving force for continuous improvement. The festival’s overall design revolves around three major elements: “wind,” “sea,” and “technology,” drawing inspiration from the local marine and fishing port characteristics, combined with Hsinchu’s unique strong winds and technological prowess to create a breathtaking, colorful underwater world in the sky.
Director of the Development of Economic Development, Hsu Chih-Pao, mentioned that the “2023 Hsinchu International Kite Festival” featured rich and exciting content, with judges highly praising the underwater world created by over a hundred giant marine animal kites. The specially designed parent-child fish-eating education activity was also commended for enhancing people’s understanding of consuming fish and protecting the ocean, echoing the United Nations’ “Sustainable Development Goal 14” on marine ecology. The event was also recognized for attracting international kite enthusiasts, nurturing local talents, creating job opportunities, and promoting urban business opportunities.
