Hsinchu City Government hosted a press conference to publicize the New Year special services and information - A Wonderful 2018 Chinese New Year – Ultra Convenience and Security. The press conference explained the series of measures that are about to implement in respond to the incoming holidays. The measures cover environmental protection, transportation, household registration, fire prevention, police policy, hygiene and medical service, and social welfare.
During the Chinese New Year period, garbage collection schedule will have the following changes: garbage collection service will be temporarily paused from the first day of the New Year to the fourth day; garbage collection route on New Year's Eve and the fifth day of the New Year will be the same as regular Mondays; however, the afternoon schedule will be shifted to the morning and night schedule will be shifted to the afternoon. The sixth day of the New Year and the day before the New Year's Eve will have extra garbage collection shifts, and garbage collection schedules and routes will go back to normal on the seventh day of the New Year. Additionally, if large furniture and household electronic collection service is required, please call Hsinchu City Environmental Protection Bureau (HCCEPB) Qingjie (cleaning) Section: 03-5388406. HCCEPB will schedule a pick-up after the inquiry is accepted. The pick-up service is not restricted by and the number of items and times.
Hsinchu City Government Department of Transportation pointed out that road side parking and the parking lot on Hsinchu rear railway station will be free of charge during the Chinese New Year period, and New Year special bus route "Blessed Spring Festival Trip" will be added. The route will go through Hsinchu Train Station -> Shinkong Mitsukoshi (Xinguang Sanyue) -> Big City -> 228 Memorial Park -> Fuhou Parking Space -> City God Temple (Chenghuang Temple) -> Former Residence of Li Kecheng/Far East Department Store (Dayuanbai) -> Hsinchu Train Station. The spring special bus route operates from 10:30 to 21:00 and the bus comes every 15 minutes.
Hsinchu City Fire Bureau (HCCFB) pointed out that they will provide 24-hour service during the New Year period and enhance fire safety inspection on malls and department stores. Also, temples and similar places are recommended to reduce the amount of incenses, candles, paper money (jin zhi) and other flammable items stored, and use audio sound effects to replace the actual firecrackers. HCCFB will also organize a New Year Market Fire Drill and remind the public to be careful while using fire and electricity.
Hsinchu City Police Bureau (HCCPB) pointed out that they will provide "House Safeguard" service. The public who have the need to leave their houses for days during the New Year period are able to apply for the service by calling 110. Once the application is accepted, jurisdictional policy station will contact the applicant and set up temporary patrol boxes in concealed places around the applicant's house. Moreover, HCCPB also provide "Cash Protection Service" to the public to enhance the security while withdrawing/carrying large amount of cash. Please call 110 for the service application.
Hsinchu City Public Health Buearu (HCCHB) pointed out that the 5 hospitals responsible for emergency medical treatment will continually carry out their duties during the New Year period but please note that the business hours are adjusted, only certain departments and periods are available. For information about department availability and corresponding time schedules, please go to HCCHB or the hospitals' website; or call 1999 the public service line.
Hsinchu City Social Affairs Bureau pointed out that social welfare services will stay the same as usual.
