Hsinchu City Government held the "Super Radish (Carrot) Festival" in the Qianxi Village farmland on Jan. 20. The event attracted a lot of people. The public put on their gloves and rain boots to enjoy the fun of harvesting radishes, carrots, and vegetables. Hsinchu City Mayor Lin Chih-chien also went to the event to have fun with the public. He hoped children would have an unforgettable farmland experience. Hsinchu City Government would keep working on establishing a livable and happy city.

Mayor Lin stated that kongyao and harvesting radishes in the paddy field with his family were the most anticipated activities during his childhood. He hoped that children could have great farmland experiences, so he held the kongyao event and the radish festival. The kongyao event couple weeks ago received great feedbacks from the public, and the Super Radish Festival this time attracted over 2,000 people.

Mayor Lin stated that Hsinchu City was selected as the happiest city in Taiwan by the media for 2 consecutive years. He had been launching multiple constructions and applied over $9 billion dollars funds from the central government. He would keep working on establishing a child-friendly environment. Additionally, he appreciated everyone for supporting the Super Radish Festival and creating an unforgettable farmland experience.

Mrs. Zheng and her daughter attended the event in the morning of Jan. 20. She pointed out that she used to harvest radishes in mountains or in countryside farmlands. She did not realize that there was a farmland in Hsinchu City for children to experience farmers' works. "This is the first time of harvesting radishes and the radishes were cute," Ms. Qiu said.

Mrs. Gu attended the event with her friends. She pointed out that she used to search for Hsinchu City events on the internet even though she was not living in Hsinchu City. The event provided a chance for her children to have a farmland experience which was meaningful for them.

Director of Hsinchu City Government Department of Social Affairs Chen Xuehui stated that Hsinchu City had the youngest population structure across Taiwan which over 20% of its population was children. Mayor Lin had been actively working on establishing a happy-child-city after he was elected. In 2017, all villages launched the social welfare delivery service and gathered the communities to hold 16 parent-child feasts; the services had serve 2,635 person-times.
