Fire Fest on Jan. 19 is getting closer. Hsinchu City Mayor Lin Chih-chien went to Jade Emperor's Altar (JEA) with the Commissioner of Fire Bureau Li Shigong and other Officials in Fire Bureau to pray for peace and safety for our nation and citizens. They also prayed that fire safety promotions can be put into practice smoothly, and firefighters will be safe. Mayor Lin stated that they prayed to the Jade Emperor for things that they can't control, and he did what he could within his ability. Hsinchu City Government had been the strongest back up for the firefighters; it had invested $85 million NT dollars in firefighting and life-saving equipment since he was elected, and as well as increased Fire Bureau's manpower from 262 personnel to 306.

Mayor Lin stated that JEA is the center of the regional belief. They went to JEA not only to pray but also to show their gratitude to the Chairman of the JEA Chen Xianrong, who had been donating firefighting equipment including ambulances, fire trucks, and aerial ladder truck, to Fire Bureau. Mayor Lin also stated his thankfulness to the leader of the volunteer firemen, the City Councilman Zheng Honghui, and all the volunteer firemen for being the strongest backup while the firefighters were on duty.

Mayor Lin pointed out that Hsinchu City is a blessed and livable city, but kept in mind that all the happiness about the city is based on the public safety. He valued fire safety seriously and appreciated all the people who helped keeping the city away from fire disasters.
