Digitally Restored Classic Chinese Films will be Shown Once Again in Image Museum on December 12

"2017 Digitally Restored Chinese Film Classics Festival" started from Dec. 12 to Dec. 16. This 5-day film playing event restored 17 classic Chinese films and brings back 8 of them to the screen including "Goddess," "Spring in a Small Town," "Pigsy and His Melon," "Baby Tadpoles Look for Their Mother," "The Buffalo Boy and His Flute," "Song of The Fishermen," "Black Snow," "Legend of the Mountain."
 
Hsinchu City Mayor Lin Chih-chien stated "2017 Digitally Restored Chinese Film Classics Festival" gathered the 14 films that digitally recovered by China File Archive and 3 King Hu (Hu Jin Quan) directed films restored by Taiwan Film Institute; it is a big blessing for cinephiles that modern digital broadcasting technology is able to reproduce the original scenes of the classic films. Hsinchu City Cultural Affairs Bureau managed to have the festival stationed in Image Museum so that the public can either watch or re-experience the classic Chinese films. More themed film/image festivals will be taking place in Image Museum in the future, so that the public can understand more about imaging art and culture.
 
Amongst the 8 films that will be played, the "Legend of the Mountain" directed by King Hu had won the best feature film direct, cinematography, art direction, sound recording, and incidental music; it broke the record of the most awards won movie. King Hu took 2 years to film the movie back in 1979, and he even went to Korea to seek suitable views. The full and restored version of the movie is 3 hours and 12 minutes long; the public who loves classic Chinese films should not miss the chance.
 
The Cultural Affairs Bureau also stated that apart from the classic Chinese film festival, the Image Museum is also hosting "2017 Social Justice Award Film Show" from Dec. 12 to Dec. 17. Social Justice Award films are the outstanding Taiwanese movies of the year selected by the hosting organization to play in the film-screening tour across the country. The movies of this year include "Ri Chang Dui Hua (Small Talk)," "Hei Xiong Sen Lin (Black Bear Forest)," "Chuan Liu Zhi Dao (The Island That All Flow By)," "Zi Hua Xiang (The Last Painting)," and "Bai Yi (White Ant)."
 
Every films selected to play in Social Justice Award File Show are the exceptional films of the year that the themes are also tightly connected with social phenomenon. In order to allow the public to have a deeper understanding of the movies and space to discuss relevant matters, the hosting organization also conducts an after-screening discussion and invites the directors to discuss with the audience; the public who likes to watch movies or cares about social topics are welcome to come and enjoy the films.
