Construction begins for Hsin Chu Municipal Kindergarten
Publish Date:113-03-29
Units:Department of General Affairs   Category:News
The construction project for the Hsin Chu Municipal Kindergarten has officially begun! Mayor Kao Hung-An stated that the project has faced challenges such as inflation and rising wages, experiencing several failed bids since 2022. With the concerted efforts of the city government team, it is expected to be completed by the 2026 academic year, adding 5 classes to create a high-quality early childhood education environment.

Mayor Kao mentioned that the Hsin Chu Municipal Kindergarten is the city’s only dedicated kindergarten, founded in 1923, relocated to its current site, and reconstructed on its original site in 1940. It has a long history, witnessing the changes of Zhongzheng Road and Beimen Street in the city from the Japanese ruled period to the present. The completion of this construction project will integrate and innovate both old and new elements of the century-old institution.

Mayor Kao emphasized that the new construction project of the Hsin Chu Municipal Kindergarten is based on the campus’s ecological environment, with the main themes of “exploring life” and “opening boundaries and neighborhood exchanges,” allowing children to feel as if they are in a park, creating a different learning experience through games and interesting spaces. After completion, the entrance of the kindergarten will feature a play corner, and the various main activity areas will be connected by large stairs. The campus will have a complete eco-classroom composed of green spaces and a pond, creating extended neighborhood spaces through soft boundaries, and becoming a venue for neighborhood exchanges.

The Education Department stressed that the city government will rigorously supervise the project, striving to complete it on time and with quality. At the same time, it will actively promote the publicization of educational and childcare services, conducting an inventory and assessment of the supply and demand for kindergartens in various areas based on the population distribution, number of children, and kindergarten capacity in Hsinchu City. Adjustments to the policy blueprint will be made as needed to provide affordable educational and childcare services, balance the supply and demand in the market, alleviate parents’ economic pressure, and enhance incentives for childbirth, realizing the vision of “Hsinchu Good Learning” and creating a “happy and friendly” city.
