Nine female county and city leaders promote sports equality

Nine female county and city leaders joined hands to promote sports equality! The Nantou County government held a press conference at the Central Taiwan Innovation Campus, MOEA, where the female leaders, Magistrate of Nantou County Hsu Shu-Hua, Mayor of Hsinchu City Kao Hung-An, Mayor of Taichung City Lu Shiow-Yen, Magistrate of Changhua County Wang Huei-Mei, Magistrate of Yunlin County Chang Li-Shan, Mayor of Chiayi City Huang Min-Hui, Magistrate of Yilan County Lin Zi-Miao, Magistrate of Hualien County Hsu Chen-Wei, and Magistrate of Taitung County Yao Ching-Ling attended to promote the concepts of “sports equality” and “gender equality,” focusing on promoting sports talent cultivation and policies for equality for people with disabilities, as well as advocating for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
 
Mayor Kao pointed out that through in-depth discussions on relevant sports issues, including the concept of “sports equality,” a society that is friendly and inclusive can be created, promoting the well-being of athletes. The city government team will continue to organize various sports competitions and sports promotion activities, including the 2025 World Masters Games cycling competition, for which Hsinchu City has provided competition venues. The city government will also continue to improve competition venues and add publicly accessible facilities, conduct environmental improvement projects around the cycling venue, and construct a new Xiangshan Comprehensive Leisure Sports Center. After completing the projects, they will provide the public with higher-quality sports venues.
 
Mayor Kao explained that this event invited representatives of athletes from the 9 counties and cities to showcase the efforts of female county and city leaders in promoting sports equality and creating a gender-neutral, safe, and friendly sports environment. Representing Hsinchu City today is Wei Yu-Tse, a student from Cheng De Senior High School. Despite being born with a hearing impairment, Wei has become a rising star in the sports world through his efforts and talent. His spirit of fearlessness in the face of difficulties, overcoming challenges, and moving forward bravely is exemplary and inspiring.
