Hsinchu City Mayor Lin Chih-chien had been implementing "Greening Project" which renovates the long-idle air force village #10 on Jinhua Street to become a new urban green land – Jinhua Park. It is another successful idle ground revival case after Shulintou Park, Hulin Baseball Court, and Jinhua Parking Lot. The park started serving the public yesterfay (8). Mayor Lin stated that he will continually beautify Hsinchu City utilizing idle spaces and give the public a comfortable living environment.
Mayor Lin stated that he had been paying attention to air force village #10 since he was a councilman. The place became abandoned and a blind spot for public security after the policy "Transformation of MDV (Military Dependents' Village)" was implemented. Thus, in order to improve these abandoned spaces to match the downtown area standard, Mayor Lin had actively applied funds and performed a large scale environmental improvement which included the nearby surroundings such as Jinhua Parking Lot. The completion of Jinhua Park further improved the downtown environment and offered parents one more place to bring their children to bike.
Director of Hsinchu City Government Department of Urban Development Wu Tang-an stated that the transformation of air force village #10 preserved trees and old MDV houses. The transformation followed the existing MDV patterns to design a circular walk path and accessible slopes, and opened up the closed end that blocked the path to Minquan Road. The project also planted shrubs and arbors; making the park an urban green land with historical background.
