Datong 108 Old Town Kitchen; Easily Present Sugarcane Lamb Soup and Chinese New Year Dishes on Table

The "Old Town Kitchen – The Legend of Chinese New Year Dishes in Dongmen Market" of "Old Town Food Renaissance" began in Datong 108 Old Town Regeneration Base on Jan. 17. Qiu Mingqin shared how to cook "Sugarcane Lamb Soup" (a well-known Xintaofang dish in 1951) in the event. She used dry goods, fresh meat, and some winter Chinese medicinal herbs from Dongmen Market to make the soup.
 
Hsinchu City Mayor Lin Chih-chien states that Qiu Mingqin's "Sugarcane Lamb Soup" could give the public an idea about what wealthy families in Hsinchu City used to be eating during Chinese New Year. He encourages the public to purchase fresh ingredients from traditional markets to make healthy and delicious dishes at home.

Director of Hsinchu City Government Department of Urban Development Wu Tang-an states that Qiu Mingqin is good at utilizing natural ingredients and simple recipe to make delicious and healthy dishes. The purpose of the event was to give a basic understanding about making dry goods dishes to the public and also teach the public how to make delicious Chinese New Year dishes.

Hsinchu City Government Department of Urban Development states that Datong 108 will keep launching old-town-related workshops and creative activities with no entrance fee.
