Starting from 12:00 November 9, 3 more YouBike stations – Shibajian Mountain Station, Hulin Baseball Court Station, and Hsinchu Baseball Court Station, are activated and expand the YouBike service area. Hsinchu City Mayor Lin Chih-chien states that YouBike service has covered whole Hsinchu City and the total usage of YouBike has exceeded 1,550,000 times. Hsinchu City now has 44 YouBike stations and a total of 1,100 youbikes in service. He encourages the public to utilize this green transportation.
Mayor Lin states, Shibajian Mountain is a popular mountain for exercise and recreational activities; the public can ride youbikes as a warm up for exercises. Students from the nearby school Hsinchu Commercial and Vocational High School are also benefited from the Shibajian Mountain station. The other 2 new stations also offer the public a new green transportation choice.
Hsinchu City Environmental Protection Bureau states, environmental protection point-collecting promotion launched on October 20 will give out 1000 points for riding a youbike; and will give away a total of 2,000,000 points. Consumptions made on specific route can collect 1 point; 10 times reward during weekends for YouBike members. Every 100 points can exchange for 1 dollar discount on specified consumptions. So far the promotion has already given out 16,000 points.
