Mayor Lin began the forum talking about the "Revival of a Young Ancient City", from the history and nature of Hsinchu City, through six big plans of Walking City, greenways were connected creating a walking network, creating an open and friendly space for pedestrians while providing an opportunity for the public to learn more about the City.
Mayor Lin pointed out, in the urban planning during the Japan Occupation, there were many greenway facilities, however, because of many factors, the setup of major road cutoff and separated the greenways; since he took office, he began researching and aggregating information and resources, wishing to return a City that is filled with green facilities to the public, Hsinchu City used "Walking City" plans to apply for subsidies and budgets, intending to create a different City Vision.
Mentioning the changes of Hsinchu City, Mayor Lin stated, there is a weekly marathon styled constructions meeting hosted by the Mayor himself, inviting construction teams and the City Government to discuss together, planning to reproduce the original appearance of the City; for example, the renovated tunnel of train station became a hotspot for wedding photo, the installation art of Hsinchu Transit Station, Slides, and ecosystem pond from Qingqing Grassland are all new spotlights after renovation; Mayor Lin pointed out, all these constructions are for the daily needs of the public, he wishes to build a City that is suitable for living.
Architect Huang mentioned, the most attractive things about Hsinchu is its unlimited possibilities, he concluded in one sentence about Hsinchu city, "No definite direction, and all answers are open!"
