JRose Decoupage Exhibition Begins, Displaying More than 50 Practical Artworks in "Art Site of Railway Warehouse"

The JRose Decoupage Exhibition began on May 24, displaying diverse practical artworks while showing the classical romance of Decoupage, the exhibition will end on June 25, the City Government welcomes the public to participate in the event.

Hsinchu City Government Cultural Affairs Bureau stated, Decoupage means "tailor"; the exhibition is co-exhibited by the teachers and students of the art team "JRose Decoupage Classroom" from the "Art Site of Railway Warehouse"; they pasted handmade tailoring materials on the subjects to add rich appearance.
    
Railway managing unit stated, the "JRose Decoupage Classroom" was established in 2014, artist Xie Ruifang, an advertising designer, united Decoupage lovers from different fields to promote Decoupage into our daily life, by hosting lectures, workshops, and events.

Artist Xie stated, Decoupage was an eastern lacquerware technique originated from Japan; in the 12th century, China applied the technique on subjects such as accessory boxes, tableware, doors, windows, and Chinese lanterns as decorations. In the 17th century- the age of discovery, the rise of oceanic navigation drove international trades, which allowed eastern crafts to flow into Europe, and they were loved by the European Nobles; at the same time, the Italian Furniture Industry began the R&D in the eastern lacquerware technique, and created a new style of lacquerware- Decoupage.
 
The exhibition displayed more than 50 common daily life subjects such as handbags, furniture, decorations and toys. The displaying artworks are also available for purchase during the exhibition period, and the profit will be donated to charities. The exhibition will end on June 25, the City Government welcomes the public to visit the "Art Site of Railway Warehouse" and enjoy the artworks.
