Phase 3 of the project extending the connecting underpass below the High-Speed Rail Bridge to Hsinchu Science Park has been officially completed early this year and opened to traffic for 3 months. Premier Chen Chieh-Jen visited Hsinchu County to check the “Construction Plan of the Life Circle Road System”, and inspected phase 3 of the project extending the connecting underpass below the High-Speed Rail Bridge to Hsinchu Science Park with the Deputy Minister of the Interior, Wu Tang-An, Mayor Kao Hung-An of Hsinchu City, Hsinchu County Magistrate, Yang Wen-Ke, and Director General of Hsinchu Science Bureau, Wang Young-Zhuang, bearing witness to a historic milestone as the transportation network in the Greater Hsinchu Area advances.

Mayor Kao Hung-An stated that the project extending the connecting underpass below the High-Speed Rail Bridge to Hsinchu Science Park was launched by both central and local governments, which was an excellent example of joint efforts. Thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Premier, Deputy Minister, County Magistrate Yang, and Director General Wang, which has facilitated swift and direct traffic flow between Hsinchu County and the Park. Since the opening of traffic, there has been a roughly 30% reduction in Section 1 of Guangfu Road (from Jieshou Road to National Hsinchu Senior High School), resulting in a 17.5% decrease in travel time; Traffic flow on Jieshou Road has decreased by about 16% and on Ciyun Road approximately 7.1%. This project eases traffic pressure from Section 1 of Guangfu Road to Jieshou Road, fostering a closer connection within the Greater Hsinchu Area.

Premier Chen Chieh-Jen expressed the utmost respect and gratitude to the local government, indicating that when central and local governments work together, national development can be remarkably accomplished. He emphasized that Hsinchu Science Park is one of the crucial engines driving the country’s economic development. With the opening of traffic, the long-standing traffic congestion issue has been alleviated, further stimulating local industries and tourism development. Furthermore, the Greater Silicon Valley plan in Taoyuan, Hsinchu, and Miaoli will also require mutual efforts from local and central governments to improve transportation in the area, ensuring that residents can live in prosperous lives.
