The 2024 Hsinchu City Children’s Art Festival will be held from April 4 to 7 at Hsinchu Park. Mayor Kao Hung-An announced that the classic and popular Japanese IP character “Bub” from the game Bubble Bobble, released by TAITO CORPORATION in 1986, will make its first appearance in Taiwan. Hsinchu Park will be transformed into a bubble paradise featuring Bubble Bobble shows, performances by children’s theater groups and street artists, and technology experiences loved by children and adults. People from all over Taiwan are invited to Hsinchu City to celebrate a joyful Children’s Day holiday.

Mayor Kao stated that this year’s Hsinchu City Children’s Art Festival will feature the prevalent Japanese video game character “Bub” from Bubble Bobble, who will join children in fun activities during the event. Bubble Bobble has a history of over 35 years and is not only a shared memory for those who grew up in the 80s and 90s but also a beloved game character for today’s children. This special appearance of Bub in Hsinchu City will bring joy to children as they play in the bubble paradise.

Director of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Wang Hsiang-Yu, mentioned that the festival, combined with the Bubble Bobble IP, is themed around the “Year of the Dragon.” The festival will turn Hsinchu Park into a “Bubble Paradise,” offering various sensory art experiences and crafts related to bubbles. Additionally, large bubble installations allow children to create their own world.
