Since the revision and issuance of the implementation points for the incentive rewards for outstanding athletes and coaches in Hsinchu City in 2018, there has been no adjustment for over 5 years. Mayor Kao stated that the city government will issue new incentive guidelines, adjusting the incentive methods and scope. Among the changes, the reward for “breaking national records” for athletes has been increased to TWD 60,000 and for coaches to TWD 50,000. Second- and third-place coaches in the National Games, Citizens Sports Games, and National Middle School Athletic Games will receive rewards this year. Fifth- and sixth-place National Middle School Athletic Games students will also receive rewards. The rewards for the top four athletes and top three coaches in the “Ministry of Education’s Student Sports League” have been added to encourage outstanding athletes and coaches.

This includes major comprehensive sports events such as the National Games, Citizens Sports Games, National Middle School Athletic Games, and National Indigenous Games, all of which have received relevant increases. Rewards for the top four athletes and top three coaches in the “Ministry of Education’s Student Sports League” have also been added.
Director of the Department of Education, Chen Mu-Chin, stated that both the National Games and the National Middle School Athletic Games are Asian and Olympic-level events, with the National Games being the highest level of competition in the country. The National Middle School Athletic Games is the highest level of competition for middle schools, with stricter participation standards. In order to encourage athletes from Hsinchu City to enter these national-level competitions, the city government has lifted the previous restriction that halved the rewards for competitions with fewer than 8 teams.
