Hsinchu City government is actively promoting people-centered construction and new campus initiatives, with several school commuting pathways completed and implemented. This provides a safe and comfortable commuting environment for students and enhances the overall quality of community life. The groundbreaking ceremony for renovating the commuting path at San Min Primary School was held. Mayor Kao Hung-An stated that this project connects San Min Primary School, the old town area, and the National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University region, making the city’s people-oriented walking environment more complete and the students’ commuting routes safer.

Mayor Kao explained that providing a road for students to commute safely has always been the goal of the city government team. There are a total of 33 commuting pathways throughout the city, and construction will continue in the future, providing students with the safest commuting routes. In addition to renovating the damaged pedestrian walkways, this project will especially connect the surrounding green corridors. This helps improve pedestrian safety and constructs a comfortable community environment. Additionally, the project will include replacing the school’s PU running track and providing students with a better sports field. The project is expected to be completed in March or April next year.

The Department of Public Works stated that the current pedestrian walkways around San Min Primary School are uneven and old. Small planting holes have led to poor tree growth conditions. Issues like water accumulation on the campus, the shared pedestrian and vehicle lanes in alleys, and the security of blind spots in idle campus spaces are prevalent. Besides enhancing the safety of students’ pathways, this project also provides a comfortable commuting environment, connects surrounding pedestrian routes, and optimizes the overall quality of community life.
