The result of National Ziyou Cup Table Tennis Championship (NZCTTC) was released in recent days. Hsinchu City Chien Hua Junior High School (CHJH) obtained the third place in the competition and acquired the qualification of national player selection in the end of March. NZCTTC started from Feb. 7 in Changhua stadium and attracted 700 table tennis players (72 groups) from 16 different cities and counties in Taiwan. Hsinchu City Mayor Lin Chih-chien encouraged the CHJH table tennis players to demonstrate the never-give-up spirit and do their best to achieve good results for Hsinchu City.
This championship is the second largest table tennis championship among all national junior high school table tennis championships. The best of eight in NZCTTC are qualified for the national player selection. In NZCTTC, the player who gets three points will win the match, and the group that wins three matches will advance. CHJH was facing New Taipei Municipal Xinzhuang Junior High School in the quarterfinal. The score was 2-2 after the fourth match. In the final match, CHJH table tennis player Zhang Jiahua demonstrated his outstanding skills and defeated the opponent with the score of 3-1 and carried CHJH to qualify for the semifinal of NZCTTC.
CHJH faced the previous champion Chengjheng Junior High School (CJJH) in the semifinal. CHJH battled CJJH to the final match (fifth match). Although CHJH eventually lost to CJJH with the score of 2-3, the audience still cheered for their remarkable performance.
Mayor Lin stated that he valued general athlete training and improved the sports facilities in local schools after he was elected. In order to offer the athletes a better training environment, Hsinchu City Government provided subsidies to 11 local schools to improve a total of 16 sports fields. Additional full-time sports coaches were hired to enhance the athlete training. Additionally, the prize and the entry fee of various competitions were subsidized by the city government. Hsinchu City Government hopes to become the greatest backup for the athletes.
President of CHJH Huang Xinteng stated that CHJH values the students' diverse development very much. He organized the training field and assembled the parents club. The table tennis team has a comprehensive training plan that allows the players to advance in table tennis. The great learning environment also attracted many students from other cities and counties.
Hsinchu City Government Department of Education stated that the city government will continue to help the local schools to develop in sports and comprehensive sports facilities. Hsinchu City Government hopes that the players can demonstrate their skills and potentials on the court and achieve greatness for Hsinchu City.
