Hsinchu City Government, Hsinchu District Prosecutors Office (HDPO), Agency Against Corruption (AAC), and Investigation Bureau Hsinchu Station (IBHS) collaborated together and launched "Hsinchu City Government Major Projects and Constructions Anti-Corruption Platform (MPCACP)" and "School Anti-Drug Advocacy Tour;" showing their determination against corruption and securing public construction quality.

Hsinchu City Mayor Lin Chih-chien stated that projects and constructions cost more than $50 million in the future will be included in the MPCACP. HDPO, AAC, and IBHS had been working together in order to reach better and cleaner construction quality. Additionally, anti-corruption volunteers will also join the course and inspect road construction on site; hoping that the public can be inspired by the anti-corruption volunteers and help on supervising public constructions together in the future. He also stated that Hsinchu City Government had been working with HDPO and IBHS on anti-drugs issues; they had "0 tolerances" for drugs being smuggled into school. They will be working even harder to expel drugs and criminals out of Hsinchu City and establish a happy and livable city environment.

Mayor Lin stated that the City Government was once using "the lowest bet" policy which low quality bidders were more likely to obtain the bidding projects, and this often resulted in changes in design and prolonging/delaying construction period. Hsinchu City Government had been trying to resolve this malpractice and established "the lowest passing grade" policy. The policy adjusted the way public construction purchases, eliminated unscrupulous firms, and improved overall public construction quality; and it is the first step of establishing the anti-corruption platform.

Mayor Lin also pointed out that drugs are the major cause of many criminal activities. In order to create a high quality educational environment, the City Government has no tolerance for drugs to enter schools. Hsinchu City Government will work with HDPO and IBHS, enhance anti-drug advocacy, and build a happy and livable city environment.

Director-General of Ministry of Justice Agency Against Corruption Chu Chia-chi stated that "the quality of public constructions" is the goal and "anti-corruption" is the means. He appreciated Mayor Lin for his attention on anti-corruption matters and secured public construction quality. Moreover, anti-drug is one of the issues that the President Tsai Ing-wen and the Premier of Executive Yuan Lai Ching-te care the most; AAC will enhance school anti-drug advocacy and reach a consistent advocate with Mayor Lin.

The press conference "Clean Government, Blessed City" was held in Hsinchu City Hall last morning (2). Hsinchu City Mayor Lin Chih-chien, Director-General of Ministry of Justice AAC Chu Chia-chi, Chief Prosecutor of HDPO Chiang Kueichang, and Director of IBHS Li Huajun gathered together and officially announced the activation of the MPCACP and the "School Anti-Drug Advocacy Tour."
