2018 New Year's Day Celebration Series contains numerous events. Hsinchu City raised the National Flag at the City Hall Plaza at 7:30 in the morning of the New Year's Day. The most eye catching event of the day is that 5 Mirage 2000 dashed over the National Flag in V formation. There were also musical feast, and Hsinchu City Government launched the New Year's Market for the first time with 16 famous breakfast shops stationed in and invited the public to join the first breakfast of 2018.
Hsinchu City Mayor Lin Chih-chien shared his appreciation to the Public for giving him a chance to make a difference in Hsinchu City; he encouraged and expected persons worked in Hsinchu City Government to keep working hard to extend the sense of happiness and re-establish the honor and pride of Hsinchu City. Mayor Lin also made 3 wishes; the first wish was hoping Taiwan "Guo Tai Min An (the country prosperous and people are safe), Feng Tiao Yu Shun (favorable weather);" the second was that Hsinchu City will progress at its full thrust on city constructions; the third was that he promised the public that 2018 will be a happy year.
The New Year's Market launched for the first time was loved by the public. 16 stationed breakfast shops presented 25 kinds of both Chinese and western cuisine such as guabao, wheel pie, cheesecake, and red bean tangyuan. The lineup was packed all the way back to Zhongyang Road at the moment when queuing was available.
The director of Hsinchu City Government Department of Social Affairs Chen Xuehui stated that the 2018 New Year's Celebration Series granted the 90-year-old Hsinchu State Hall a refreshing vitality and appearance. Hsinchu City Government wished the public a happy 2018.
