Hsinchu Municipal Chien-Kung Senior High School student Zheng Junwei has overcame all the opponents and achieves the first place on senior high school group in the "National Finals of 2017 Environmental Knowledge Competition" held by Environmental Protection Administration and Ministry of Education.
Environmental Protection Administration selects 4 themes - circular economy, clean air, plastic-free ocean, and care for the earth as the main topics of the competition. The competition also covers government policies, current events, videos and relevant environmental knowledge issues specified by "Environmental Educational Lifelong Learning Website." The competition is scheduled to 4 groups including elementary school group, junior high school group, senior high school group and adult group. The finals were held on Nov. 18 and there were 440 contestants participated.
Zheng Junwei states he has learned a lot during the preparation process; he also notices that our planet is gravely sick and it is everyone's duty to protect the Earth. Therefore, he wants to know more relevant environmental protection issues and does his best to protect the Earth.
Hsinchu City Mayor Lin Chih-chien states he appreciates all the Hsinchu City participants for their efforts; environmental protection knowledge is not just words on the textbook, it should be put into actual practice. He hopes the students and the public can learn environmental protection relevant knowledge from the competition, and utilize the knowledge in daily life; and working together toward the goal of sustainable development.
