The First Smart City Model; Hsinchu City Public Data Platform has been Activated
Publish Date:106-11-17
Units:Department of General Affairs   Category:Others
Hsinchu City is actively promoting the "smart city" plan. Since data is the base of operating a smart city, Hsinchu City Government collaborates with ASUS to launch the first "smart city public data platform" in Taiwan, and the activation ceremony was held on Nov. 16. Hsinchu City Mayor Lin Chih-chien states the public, start-up teams, and research institutes can apply for the free-usage of the public data platform; hoping they can utilize the platform to create more high quality, innovative, and smart applications in order to improve living quality.

ASUS applies the subsidy for Hsinchu City public data platform from Ministry of Economic Affairs Industrial Development Bureau and collaborates with Hsinchu City Government to develop the "smart city promotion plan." ASUS set up an open data platform for the public and start-up teams to save and share the data through the platform and execute data-value-added, data-innovation, and data-application. The City Government can also utilize the open data to organize and analyze big data to improve the public service quality in the future.

Mayor Lin states the City Government is actively collaborating with the public. For example, the "Friendly Hsinchu Nursing Room APP" was recently designed by the City Government, Our City Love Social Enterprise, and NCTU which offered the parents a way to search for needed breastfeeding rooms. The City Government is fabricating airboxes that will be able to upload the real-time information to the public data platform in order for the public to receive the instant news.

Ye Siping, the ASUS Global Vice President, points out that ASUS Cloud is the most comprehensive data platform in Taiwan that had been tested thoroughly. He hopes the public data platform will help start-up teams to develop their strengths.

Hsinchu City Government Department of General Affairs states the public data platform built by the City Government and ASUS was available from Nov. 16; please visit the platform website at https://hsinchu.omnithings.io/ for application.
